I'm trying to set up a Hi-Phone on an XP Pro (SP3) system and the install appears to work OK.
This is a fresh XP install, there's nothing else on the system.
 
However, when I initialize the modem, in the w2cLog log I get....

Note: the Wave Out/In?Aux values....
 
In the Control Panel/Sounds and Audio devices I'm not seeing the "hi-Phone Desktop USB" device under the "Audio" tab.  the only device listed there is "'Microsoft RDP Audio Driver'" which shows up in the above log as the Wave Out Name....
 
Services: the "Telephony" and "WIndows Audio" services are both running.
 
I did the original install from the CD which came with the mode. 
I've also installed the 2.00.95 (download) version.
 
I've tried rebooting the system...
 
I also tried disabling the standard "modem" and "USB Audio Devices' from under Device manager and then reinstalled the Hi-phone drive.
 
Still, no go.  At least for dialing out, playing tones, etc.  The modem does see an incoming call if I call it up, I can answer the call, but it does not pulse out tones.
 
I tested making a call with the Hi-Phone teset utility, it also failed...
 
What should I try next?

The information that you have provided indicates that you are using the Hi-Phone remotely, and not on a local PC.

You don’t see the Hi-Phone or any other sound device, which may be installed on this PC from the same reason.

This is A WIN OS server remote issue which can give you a full control on a server, but not for Audio devices.

This is why the Hi-Phone is working fine when it’s related to commands and events, but when an audio wave is required, it’s not working.

Audio IN devices:
  0.

  2. Microsoft RDP Audio Driver

 

It shows no audio IN devices, and all audio OUT devices are MS RDP audio

This issue currently can’t be solved from the Hi-Phone side.

We recommend checking with MS if Audio devices are transferable, and if not why.

 

Please share with us any information you find that may solve this issue.

I have been "accessing" the PC remotely, through "Rmt Desktop".  However, accessing it through "Rmt Desktop" should not be an issue.
 
The system is not a VM machine.  I't a basic Dell destop with a fresh XP Pro install, to SP3.
 
The Hi-Phone modem is connected directly to the PC where i'm installing the drivers.  I am NOT installing the drivers on PC "A" and then pluging the Hi-Phones USB connection in an second PC "B" and expecting that to work.
 
I will go and install it DIRECTLY from the PCs directly attached monitor and and directly attached  keyboard.  With the network cable unpluged. It can't get much more local than that.

I’m not sure how a “Rmt Desktop” handles a session, but if you can’t see the Hi-Phone and other wave devices through the remote access, it’s not a good sign in regards to the Hi-Phone functionality.

Please do the test locally, and send the way2call drivers information so it can be reviewed

I did some searching on "WIN OS server remote dpr audio driver", and it appears that "WIN OS server remote" is "Rmt Desktop", (the executable name is: "mstsc.exe"), and others have had issues in this area as well.
 
As awork around, I installed VNC ( http://www.realvnc.com/vnc/index.html - http://www.realvnc.com/vnc/index.html ) to access the machine remotely instead of "Rmt Desktop".  I then reinstalled the Hi-Phone drivers from/through the VNC remote session.  It worked just fine.
 
With VNC I can see the "Hi-Phone Desktop USB' drivers in Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices properties/Audio tab.  When the modem is initialized, through my application, I see the "Hi-Phone Desktop USB " drivers the "Way2Call Log" logs as expected.  My application has made test calls successfully.

For using "Remote Desktop", I found the following......
 
Logon to the server using the /admin switch

From a command prompt (or start run) type: mstsc /admin

enter the server name

select options, and then under the 'local resources' tab,   configure  the sound option as 'leave at remote computer'
With this I've connected to the remote PC, using "Remote Desktop".   I then opened "Control Panel/Sound and Audio Properties/Audio tab" and I see the "Hi-Phone Desktop USB" drivers as expected and my application runs as expected.

Thanks for the valuable information.

It seems like in order to work with the Hi-Phone products remotely the LOCAL PC MUST see the Hi-Phone wave devices in the Control panel >>>  sound and audio devices >>> audio tab and voice tab.

Sometimes In default, the audio devices are not presented, and therefore all the Hi-Phone audio features are disabled.

Setting it up correctly enables the audio devices, and Hi-Phone full USB telephony device functionality

Once audio devices are presented on the local PC, the Hi-Phone should be working fine.

This issue may apply to any remote access solution, such as Remote Desktop, VMware server, etc..

Please make sure to install the Hi-Phone MDD drivers
